Lithothamne is a small red alga of the family Corallinaceae with a size of 2 cm. It has the property of crystallizing on its structure (its thallus) the mineral elements contained in the seawater which gives it the appearance of the coral.

Harvested more than 30 meters deep in the sandy bottom of some berries, the seaweed is then reduced to powder and used in cosmetics as well as nutritional supplement.
