Shea tree, sacred tree in many parts of Africa , produces edible nuts , used as food , but especially known for the virtues on the skin of the butter that is extracted from it. The Shea Nilotica is a subspecies of the tree Shea Vitellaria paradoxa (or Butyrospermum parkii), predominant in East Africa, throughout the Nile Valley. It is found in particular in Uganda and Sudan.
The butter we offer comes mainly from the forest region around Lira , Uganda . The nuts Shea Nilotica, harvested from wild trees, are a good commercial resource for this recently war-ravaged region. The seeds are sent to Kenya, where they are pressed at low temperatures to retain all the properties of the butter .
The valuation of nuts of Shea Nilotica is ecologically very important because it helps to preserve these trees , which can live for many years, but are threatened by deforestation because they are prized for producing coal .
Richer in olein and less rich in stearin than Shea butter from West Africa, Nilotica has a much softer texture and penetrates the skin more easily . Its richness in unsaponifiables, including vitamin E, polyphenols and phytosterols makes it an exceptional cosmetic ingredient to make your preparations for sensitive skin, attacked (sun, wind, cold ..) and to prevent skin aging.
