Extracted from an Ayurvedic plant called Punarnava, this concentrated active ingredient fights against all types of pigment spots thanks to its regulatory action on the synthesis of melanin. This natural extract with proven effectiveness is incorporated in your “home” care to brighten the complexion and reduce skin spots. It is effective even on dark skin and very useful in reducing unsightly dark spots.
Boerhavia diffusa is a perennial climbing plant in the Nyctaginaceae family, producing small, pink-purple flowers. Very widespread in India, where it grows mainly in the Himalayan region up to 2000 m altitude, its Sanskrit name is Punarnava, which literally means “which regenerates and rejuvenates the body”.
This plant has many traditional and medicinal uses, but it is also used for these cosmetic properties.
Very rich in antioxidants, this plant would have an anti-stress and protective effect against aging.
The main active compounds in the root of Boerhavia diffusa are Boeravinones, compounds of the rotenoids family which are known to have potent antioxidant and genoprotective activity. Computer-assisted modeling shows that Boeravinone B is an agonist of PPARγ receptors, a natural regulator of melanin synthesis in melanocytes.
Depigmenting and brightening: this active ingredient reduces the expression of tyrosinase, a key enzyme in the process of melanin synthesis in melanocytes. In addition, it decreases the activity of tyrosinase, which reduces the amount of melanin produced, and therefore in a lightening effect.
Helps reduce skin spots: this active ingredient reduces the accumulation of melanin in the epidermis by also reducing the number of melanocyte dendrites. The dendrites being the “arms” by which the melanocytes transfer melanin to the keratinocytes in the epidermis, the reduction in the number of dendrites prevents the accumulation of pigment in the epidermis and reduces pigmentation inhomogeneities.
Effective in vitro and in vivo on volunteers: this active ingredient has been tested on several types of spots: surface pigment spots (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation left by pimples or lesions), brown spots due to UV rays, pigmentary irregularities and deep spots due to to skin aging. Melano’regul visibly reduces surface stains as well as deeper pigment accumulations.
Unifies and brightens the complexion: unifying efficacy proven on volunteers: the lightening effect of the skin is greater in areas with spots and hyperpigmentation, which leads to an overall homogenization of the complexion, the skin is unified and the complexion illuminated.
Safe and harmless: this active ingredient regulates melanin synthesis by intervening upstream in the process, and without affecting the viability of melanocytes, unlike traditional depigmenting agents such as kojic acid, which have a toxic effect on cells.
