A natural compound present in several plants, including notoriously German Chamomile, traditionally used for its soothing properties, (L) -alpha-bisabolol is also found in high concentration in the bark of Candeia (Vanillosmopsis Erythropappa). This small tree from the Asteraceae family grows in Brazil and produces a hard, resinous white wood. The leaves and flowers of this tree are known for their medicinal properties, as is the essential oil obtained from the distillation of the bark. It is from this essential oil, by fractional distillation, that the pure (L) -alpha-bisabolol is obtained. Unlike synthetic bisabolol, which contains the 2 enantiomers (D) -alpha bisabolol (inactive form) and (L) -alpha bisabolol (natural, active form), vegetable bisabolol contains only the active form, and will therefore be much more effective at lower dose (twice as much synthetic bisabolol is needed for the same activity).
Bisabolol is an active non-toxic and gentle on the skin, very effective at low doses. It is particularly renowned for its soothing and restorative properties, which make it an additive of choice in the care of sensitive skin, after-sun or after-depilation products, lip care …
We offer Bisabolol 100% of plant origin, certified organic and from a sustainable development sector.
We are working for this asset with a supplier who obtains bisabolol only from FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified Candeia wood. This label relating to forestry activities lays down principles and criteria recognized worldwide as being the strictest, and ensures sustainable management of the resource in societal, environmental, economic and ecological matters. With this in mind, the wood by-products obtained during the process are also used to manufacture composite woods.
With more than 150 landowner-partners, the producer of this bisabolol has established a collaboration that respects local communities and has developed a chain guaranteeing a high level of quality and traceability.
