Simulgreen™ 18-2 is natural source, all-in-one liquid crystal emulsifier derived from castor oil and sugar that contains no ethoxylated ingredients. It is a non-ionic oil-in-water emulsifier that can be used to emulsify vegetable oils, silicones, and esters. It can emulsify oils when used as low as 2%, and has good compatibility with electrolytes.
Lotions made with Simulgreen™ 18-2 will be lighter and easier to spread than those made with traditional emulsifying waxes (creates much thinner lotions than with Polawax or Incroquat BTMS-50). It prevents the soaping effect found with other emulsifiers, and it is absorbed more quickly by the skin. Actives and lipids can penetrate the skin more easily due to the liquid crystal emulsion’s ability to mimic the lipid bilayers in our stratum corneum, leading to a reduction in transepidermal water loss and increase in moisturization.
It is ECOcert and Natrue approved, and derived from sustainable vegetable sources without the use of solvents. It is considered biodegradable.
